Microcement kitchen worktops

The polished concrete worktop is an elegant alternative to stone or laminate for a modern, mineral-look kitchen. Seamless, joint-free and customisable, it integrates perfectly into a contemporary kitchen and can be extended into a splashback for an enveloping effect. Clavel Rénovation creates your bespoke polished concrete worktops.

Technical specifications: continuous joint-free surface • water-repellent protection chosen according to exposure to water, stains and heat • made-to-measure shapes (straight, L-shaped, island, integrated basin or spout) • can be extended as a splashback.

A bespoke, seamless surface

Poured concrete adapts to every shape: straight, L-shaped, island, with a drainer or integrated basin. The lack of joints makes cleaning easier and gives a high-end finish. You choose the shade and finish to create a unique worktop that matches your units and splashback.

Water, stain and everyday wear resistant

Applied in thin layers and then protected by a specific water-repellent sealer, the poured concrete worktop resists water, stains and daily use. Like any fine kitchen surface, it is maintained with simple actions; the use of a chopping board and a trivet remains recommended.

The precision of a craft applicator

A successful worktop relies on a stable base and careful application, coat after coat. We carry out the preparation, application and final protection for a result that is both durable and aesthetic. Clavel Rénovation operates in the Var and PACA regions.

Recent project: poured concrete outdoor kitchen worktop in Toulon

Creation of a bespoke outdoor unit for a small summer kitchen in Toulon: the structure was built from masonry and then entirely covered in waxed concrete, including the worktop and fronts, with a stone basin integrated directly into the surface. As the whole unit stays outside all year round, the finish is not that of an indoor worktop: the waxed concrete has received a special outdoor impregnation treatment, which protects it from UV rays, rain and temperature fluctuations without altering the mineral look of the surface. Result: a seamless, continuous surface that can be wiped clean with a sponge.

Frequently asked questions about microcement worktops

Is a poured concrete worktop suitable for food contact?

Once sealed with a suitable food-safe varnish, poured concrete can safely come into contact with food, provided that products complying with the regulations on materials in contact with foodstuffs are used. The Ministry of the Economy also points out, in their practical guide on food contact materials, the importance of choosing certified finishes for these uses.

Does the waxed concrete worktop resist heat and stains?

Protected poured concrete resists common stains and splashes well, but it is still best to use a trivet for very hot containers, as is the case for most worktops. Simple daily maintenance with a sponge and mild soap is enough.

Can you integrate a sink into a poured concrete worktop?

Yes, it is even possible to make a basin or sink entirely out of poured concrete, as a continuation of the worktop, for a completely seamless and jointless finish around the water point.

What thickness for a poured concrete worktop?

Poured concrete is applied in thin layers to an existing base (wood, stable laminate, old worktop) or to a dedicated structure, to a total thickness of a few millimetres that preserves the dimensions and integration of the kitchen equipment.

How long does it take to make a polished concrete worktop?

Allow several days between surface preparation, the application of the coats of waxed concrete and the sealing coat, respecting the necessary drying times between each stage. The kitchen therefore remains out of use during part of the project, which Clavel Rénovation takes into account when organising the work.
