Polished concrete FAQ: frequently asked questions
The price of poured concrete depends on the surface area, the existing substrate and the complexity of the project. Generally speaking, the rate varies between €110 and €180 per m² for a complete installation including substrate preparation and protection.
Yes, polished concrete can be applied directly to existing tiles provided the substrate is stable and properly prepared. This solution makes it possible to renovate a floor or bathroom without demolition.

Yes, polished concrete can be applied to panels Finished and Wedi shower trays, provided the substrate is correctly prepared and waterproofed.
Wedi boards are suitable for damp rooms and enable the creation of a walk-in shower in polished concrete seamless, aesthetically pleasing and durable.
Professional application (preparation, sealing, varnish) is essential to guarantee the longevity of the coating.
Frequently asked questions – Bathroom
No, in most cases. If the tiles are stable, adherent and dry, poured concrete is applied directly over them after preparation (sanding, joint treatment, suitable primer). With a thickness of about 2 mm, it avoids the removal and rubble of demolition.
Yes. Sealed microcement is designed for wet rooms, but it does not replace the waterproofing of the substrate: in a walk-in shower, prior waterproofing (such as Wedi-type boards or shower trays) and the treatment of joints are essential. This is our systematic installation method.
Maintenance is simple: a neutral or mild soap is enough, avoiding abrasive or harsh products. Find all our detailed advice in our poured concrete maintenance guide.
This depends on the scale of the project: applying polished concrete alone is quicker than a complete bathroom refurbishment. Drying times between coats must be respected to ensure durability. A precise schedule is provided with the quote.

Technical questions about polished concrete
Poured concrete is a millimeter-thick coating: it is applied in a thickness of approximately 1 to 2 mm depending on use. Around 3 kg of material per m² is required for a residential floor and up to 4 kg/m² for heavy-duty use (bathrooms, stairs, commercial premises, renovation over tiling or terraces). This low thickness makes it possible to maintain existing levels while ensuring the durability of the coating.
Correctly prepared and applied, poured concrete is a stable and durable finish. The millimeter-thick Marius Aurenti poured concrete that we apply comes with a 15-year crack-resistance guarantee for work carried out according to the defined conditions. Substrate preparation (assessment, primer, treatment of complex areas) and respect for existing structural joints are crucial to prevent cracks.
Poured concrete is pigmented throughout and comes in numerous mineral shades — up to 87 in the Marius Aurenti range — from neutrals to earthy and deep tones. The shade is revealed through the craftperson's technique, sanding, sealing and above all the light: the very same colour can look lighter in the morning and more mineral-like at the end of the day. We can advise you based on your interior, and a sample can be made.
Yes, it is strongly recommended. The success of poured concrete depends on assessing the substrate, preparation, material mixing, working time and applying protective coats: all technical steps that require genuine expertise. Clavel Rénovation is an installer of Marius Aurenti solutions and carries out every project personally, without subcontracting — an essential condition for the quality and guarantee of the work.
Marius Aurenti thin-layer poured concrete boasts high measured performance: approximately 44 MPa in compression and 16.8 MPa in flexure. Its protection (high-performance varnish) is resistant to stains, water and common cleaning products. Combined with careful application, it withstands daily use perfectly, including in high-traffic rooms.
Yes. Polished concrete can be used to cover terraces and pool surrounds, provided a suitable exterior system is used — mortar, preparation and finishing designed for sun, rain and temperature variations. The substrate and falls determine feasibility, hence the importance of a prior survey. We create bespoke polished concrete terraces throughout the Var.
